Social Action

PrayingWithFeet_edited.jpg

“After participating in the civil rights march in Selma, Alabama, Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, one of this century’s great religious figures and a close colleague of Reverend Dr Martin Luther King, said, ‘It felt like my feet were praying.’

Prayer is not just the communication we have with God; it is also the work we do to make God’s values real to the world. I think God listens to both kinds of prayer with equal joy” (Rabbi David Saperstein, the Director Emeritus of the Religious Action Center of Reform).

Since Heschel’s quote, Reform Jews often speak about not just praying at temple, but “praying with our feet."

American Cancer Society

Unfortunately, about one-third of all people in the US will develop Cancer during their lifetime. Whether directly or indirectly, this disease impacts the life of so many. This is why it is important to raise awareness, get screened, and continue to strive for a cure.

Every year, I help to lead my congregation in either "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" or "Relay for Life." Together, we raise money, we walk, we remember, we honor, and we strengthen our community of support.

Boca Raton Interfaith Clergy Association (B.R.I.C.A)

I am proud to be a part of my community's interfaith clergy association. I attend monthly meetings with my fellow clergy to learn, dialogue, and provide unified responses to current events. We also join together to provide interfaith programming and solidarity events for the community.

Partnership with

Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church

Throughout the year, Congregation B'nai Israel and Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church gather together for programs and social action events. Two highlights each year are MLK Jr. Day and Thanksgiving week.

1) We join to rededicate ourselves to Reverend Martin Luther King Junior's mission of bringing about civil rights for all.

2) We join for our annual Feed the Community event which provides Thanksgiving meals to those in need. We serve, we dance, and we provide a way for families to celebrate this holiday with one another.
